Frequently Asked Questions about LatterDayBride's Modest Bridesmaid Dresses

Bridesmaid dresses can be a complicated part of your wedding. Before you start stressing over fabrics and friends’ opinions, take a step back and look at the basics. We’ve created a quick compilation of frequently asked questions about our bridesmaid dresses that will help you get started.

How long will it take to receive my dress once I order it?

The timing for our bridesmaid dresses depends quite a bit on the individual style. Our bridesmaid dresses come from a variety of sources. The dresses that are named (ie Amy) are custom made when they are ordered and take about 10-12 weeks to arrive at our store. If you don’t have 10-12 weeks before your wedding, don’t worry! We have a few rushes available on most of the gowns for an additional fee to help you get your dresses on time. If you still don’t have enough time, take a look at the dresses that are labeled with numbers. The dresses that are numbered (ie MDS 001) are made locally, so they are often kept in stock and are ready to ship right away.

Some of my bridesmaids are quite tall. Can I order the dress longer?

The numbered dresses come in a standard length, but the dresses with names can be ordered longer. You have the option to order these dresses with five inches extra length or to order them in floor length.

Can I make the sleeves longer?

The sleeve lengths are all standardized, but most of the dresses can come with matching fabric. Making a longer sleeve length is a common alteration that most seamstresses will be able to do quite easily.

If I don’t like the dress, can I return it?

If you’ve ordered two or more bridesmaid dresses, they won’t be returnable or exchangeable, but one single dress certainly can be. If you find that the dress won’t work when you receive it, give us a call within three days to return the gown. View more details about our return policy here.

I normally wear a size 10. Why do I need to order so much bigger?

Our dresses always run small! If you wear a size 10 in street clothes, you can usually expect to wear a size 12 or 14 in our bridesmaid dresses. We always base our size choices on your measurements to get the closest fit possible.

Why do I need to take my measurements?

Your bust, waist, and hip measurements are a very important part of your order. Since our sizes run so differently from standard sizing and pant sizing, your measurements always determine the size that will fit best. Also, if we have your measurements, we can help you choose the correct size. If you don’t provide measurements, we will not be able to offer you the return policy. For the most accurate measuring, go to a bridal shop or a nice clothing store to be measured by a professional.

If I provide my measurements, is the dress custom made to fit me exactly?

No. Since, the size charts for the dresses are standardized, and measurements are our guideline to selecting the right size. Based on how your measurements line up, we can let you know what alterations you may need.

My measurements don’t match a size in the size chart. What can I do?

Don’t worry! It’s very rare that anyone fits exactly into a perfect size. We generally help you choose a size that will require the fewest alterations. If your measurements are spanning several sizes, we have the option on some of our bridesmaid dresses to add a corset back for $35. The corset back allows you to tighten or loosen the fit of the dress where necessary. We recommend a corset back when it will decrease the cost of alterations. Keep in mind, when you make any custom changes to your dress, it won’t be returnable.

How do I select the right color?

Since computer screens aren’t the best reflection of true color, we recommend ordering color swatches. We can send color swatches for most of our bridesmaid dresses and they are available complimentary. See more details about ordering color swatches here.
